The Story of… Dr. Vince H., D.C
This testimonial has been a long time coming. As you are well aware, I too am a Chiropractor and have practiced actively since 1991. My choice of techniques have largely been “hand’s on” in nature with the requisite “cracking and popping” that is often associated with traditional Chiropractic care.
In August 2008 while training for many months in preparation for my first Ironman Triathlon in Wisconsin I was working on a patient when I lost bladder control. While I was able to “contract” to keep myself from voiding my bladder it was only because I was actively squeezing and performing a Kegel maneuver. I was 41 years old and reasonably fit (6 feet tall and 190 lbs). I figured I had herniated a lumbar disc and it caused the loss of bladder control.
I had my low back adjusted by some talented local chiropractors 2 to 3 times/day without any change in my condition. My sensation of bladder control was intermittent and usually came about when I was bending over a patient to assess them. This went on for 3 days with me contemplating an MRI ($1200) and subsequent possible surgical decompression ($$$) of my lumbar spine and not being able to realize a dream of competing in an Ironman (2.4 mile swim, 112 miles biking and 26.2 mile run).
It occurred to me that while I had ZERO neck pain that the problem could be in my neck and who better to address it than Dr. Harding an Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor. I made an appointment and 1 adjustment later I have never had an issue with my bladder again! I continued to train and compete in the Ironman Wisconsin with a time of 12 hours 25 minutes them promptly dropped to one knee and proposed to my future wife! It was a pretty great day all in all. It would not have happened with Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic and Dr. Harding.
Thanks Doc.
